Stacey Anderson was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago.
Stacey always had an affinity for animals and knew she was
destined to work with them in one way or another. Stacey first
started riding when she was 13, after family friends moved
to a small farm and bought a retired thoroughbred jumper.
From there, Stacey’s interest in horses quickly snowballed.
She started taking regular lessons and helping her friends
at local club shows. Stacey’s mother surprised her when she
was a freshman in high school with the news that she too was
going to become a horse owner. She and her mother bought a
10 year-old Arabian gelding named HiFi.
After a couple years showing in 4-H and club shows, Stacey
started working for Russ Rodden at Maple Lane Farms. She
worked in exchange for lessons and training. In order
to afford showing at the class A level, Stacey also had to
work as a groom at shows, realizing that not only did she
enjoy riding and showing, but also liked the “behind the
scenes” activity of training and grooming.
After graduating high school, Stacey attended the University
of Findlay in Ohio where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in
Equestrian Studies with a Western Training emphasis, and a
second Degree Equine Business Management. At Findlay, she
learned not only about training horses, but also took
classes in everything from Nutrition and Reproduction, to
Equine Law and Computer Sciences. Stacey minored in Business
Management and was active in campus activities and managed
the Western equestrian team her Senior year. Stacey
graduated from Findlay in 2001 and was named Outstanding
Senior Western Equestrian of the Year.
After college Stacey worked for five years at Scoggins
Training Center as an assistant to owner/trainer Brian
Scoggins. There she started young horses under saddle, gave
many lessons to clients and area children, and continued to
expand her knowledge in the Arabian field.
Stacey came to Fox Hollow Farm in 2005, excited to be
working with another well respected trainer in the Arabian
Community. Since her arrival, Stacey has helped to train and
show many talented animals on the farm as well as give
instruction to clients and local lesson students. In this
past year, Stacy and the clients she works with have had
numerous wins on the Class A circuit and won two Regional
Championships in Sport Horse Under Saddle, a Reserve
Championship in Amateur Western Pleasure, and received four
Top Ten Awards at the NSH Finals as well as winning the Open
Western Pleasure Championship.
Stacey’s philosophy on horse training is about education. The more
you know about how to interact with the horse, the better
rider and horseperson you will become. She enjoys teaching
her students not only how to ride, but how to understand the
animal. Stacey looks forward to continued years of success
and hopes you will visit or call us at Fox Hollow soon! |
